FranchiseInspect is a document-organization service for prospective franchise buyers. It is not a law firm, accountant, broker, regulator, or investment adviser and does not replace review by qualified professionals.
Not legal, financial, or professional advice
The information on FranchiseInspect is provided for general educational purposes only. It is not legal, financial, tax, or other professional advice, and reading it does not create any professional or advisory relationship. A franchise agreement is a binding legal contract. Before you sign one, have it and the Franchise Disclosure Document reviewed by a qualified franchise attorney and an accountant.
Not a substitute for required audits or inspections
Checklists and audit templates on this site help you organize your own review of your own business or purchase decision. They do not replace audits required by your franchisor, inspections required by regulators, or reviews required by lenders. Verify compliance requirements with your franchisor and the agencies that regulate your business.
No guarantee of any outcome
FranchiseInspect does not guarantee that any franchise will be profitable, that a negotiation will produce better terms, that a lender will approve financing, or that any business result will follow from using our materials. Business outcomes depend on factors no publisher can know, including your market, your operation, and the franchise system itself. We help you organize your homework; we do not promise what it will find or what will happen next.
Calculator outputs are estimates, not projections
ROI, break-even, royalty, and investment figures produced by our tools are planning estimates based entirely on the numbers you enter. They are not forecasts, valuations, or financial performance representations. The only official performance information for a specific franchise is what that franchisor publishes in its own disclosure documents, and even that deserves independent verification with your advisors and with current and former franchisees.
Self-help tools, not representation
The checklists, letter generators, and packet materials on this site are self-help documents you complete and use yourself. Using them does not make FranchiseInspect your representative, auditor, broker, or advisor. We never conduct an audit for you, negotiate with a franchisor on your behalf, or communicate with any regulator or lender for you.
Rules vary and change
Federal franchise disclosure requirements are periodically amended, and state registration and relationship laws differ by state. Content on this site may not reflect the most recent change. Before you rely on anything here, confirm the current rule with the FTC's published guidance or your state's franchise regulator.
We are an independent publisher
FranchiseInspect is an independent business. We are not a law firm, an accounting firm, a franchise broker, or a government agency, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized to act on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission, any state regulator, or any franchisor. Franchise and agency names are used only to help you identify the subject or the correct authority to contact.
External links
Where we link to FTC, state regulator, and other official pages, we do so to point you to the authority behind a rule. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement, and an outside page may change after we reference it.
How to confirm a requirement
When a guide names a rule or a figure, treat the primary source as the final word. Read the franchisor's current FDD for that system's fees and obligations, the FTC's guidance for federal disclosure requirements, and your state regulator's materials in registration states. If a guide and one of those sources ever disagree, the source is correct.
